Dept. of Biotechnology

The Department of Biotechnology, SAFI Institute of Advanced Study established in the year 2005, has well-equipped laboratories for carrying out in vitro Plant regeneration, Phytochemical analysis, Molecular Biology, and Computational Biology. The Department has faculties with expertise in the fields of Plant Biology, Molecular Neurobiology, Proteomics, Computational Biology, and Cancer Biology.

The Department has been granted research funds from Kerala State Council for Science, Technology, and Environment (KSCSTE) to assist research works carried out by both undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Institute. Research oriented training programmes have also been a part of the teaching routine for several years.

We have well-placed alumni throughout the country pursuing research in institutes like IISc Bengaluru, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and other Central/State universities. Also, the Department of Biotechnology holds a record of Students who cleared CSIR-JRF/NET, IIT-JAM, GAT-B and GATE entrance exams during their due course of study.

Our faculties and students are actively involved in research and publication in well reputed scientific journals. Their participation in various scientific seminars and symposiums has procured several meritorious awards for the Institute. Our Department always aims to produce well-fledged researchers to serve the nation in dynamic areas of Biotechnology
