Dept. of English

The department of English has been in existence in SAFI Institute of Advanced Study ever since the institute was founded on August 29, 2005. Apart from catering to the needs of the students of common course English for all the programmes offered by the institute, the department gives special attention to develop communication skills in English to the students with a view to carrying out this objective the Institute of Language Skills is functioning in collaboration with the department. Every year a faculty from the department is put in charge of the Institute of language Skills.

It is in 2019 that the Institute is granted the permission by the University of Calicut to start BA in English Language and Literature. The programme offers BA English Language and Literature with Indian Constitution and Journalism as complimentary courses. During the initial year only 24 seats had been sanctioned yet 2 more seats were added to cater sports quota students. The class for the first batch of BA English commenced on 1 August, 2019.
