SAFI Directorate of Research (SAFI-DoR)
SAFI recognizes research as an effective tool for long term viability and success. With the aim to become a superior motive of scaling greater vistas of cutting-edge research in scientific as well as well as specialized areas of various academic discipline, SIAS-Directorate of Research has been constituted. The research vision of SIAS-DoR is to provide the skeleton for developing and implementing the research activities of SIAS on multidisciplinary interactive academic environment and to establish a socially and useful productive research culture.
The Directorate of Research undertakes various initiatives such us, conducting skill based programme for students in research methodology, IPR, building inter-departmental ventures within the college, taking up surveys, writing proposals to government and outside agencies for new projects, generate funds through sponsored projects etc. The DoR also focuses on social media campaigns and handles the Public Relation for the College.

The research projects that are underway are broadly the following:
Bioactive peptides and secondary metabolites production from plant, animal and microbial sources for therapeutic applications as anti-hypertensive drugs, antioxidants, antimicrobial or insecticidal agents.
Plant tissue culture for micro-propagation of medicinal, ornamental plant species and conservation of endangered species and production of valuable secondary metabolites.
Development of microbial degradation processes and their application in bioremediation of soils, water bodies contaminated with pesticide residues and other hazardous chemicals.
Microbial production of various industrial products such as enzymes, pigments, biopolymers, secondary metabolites etc.
Nutraceutical values of various food components, nutritional quality improvement of food products through supplementation with natural products, and improvement of functional properties of food enzymes.
Microbial Genetics, Molecular Epidemiology, Drug resistance studies of Marine biodiversity and Molecular Taxonomy, Proteomics and Development of Marine bioactive compounds.
Structural and computational biology, Immunology and development of Biopharmaceuticals, Molecular studies of microorganisms etc.,
All the research activities are aimed at the abatement of human misery with an emphasis on high-cost reduction and zero or minimal interference with environment and deliverable to mainly the lower strata of human population.
