ITEP
About ITEP
The Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) is a four-year undergraduate programme introduced by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) as part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. It is designed to prepare prospective teachers by integrating general education and professional teacher training, offering a dual degree—B.A. B.Ed. ,B.Com B.Ed or B.Sc. B.Ed.—within four years.
ITEP focuses on equipping future educators with strong subject knowledge, pedagogical skills, and the values necessary for effective and inclusive classroom teaching. It also aims to raise the standards of school education by ensuring that teachers are well-prepared, competent, and classroom-ready from the outset.
SAFI Institute of Advanced Study (Autonomous) has received the Letter of Intent (LOI) from NCTE-Southern Regional Committee (SRC) and is in the process of obtaining final recognition to launch the ITEP. Once approved, the programme will be offered from the academic year 2025–26, providing an excellent opportunity for students aspiring to join the teaching profession right after higher secondary education.
