CAMPUS CULTURE

Our institute aims to provide an inclusive environment and regional diversity where a holistic development of community is guaranteed. It ranges from the policy making, faculty recruitment, students enrollment to community outreach. The faculty and students are accepted without any discrimination in terms of caste, creed, gender and physical disabilities. The ethics committee ensures the harmony of students from diverse regions, class, religion, caste, social and cultural backdrops.

It is evident through the following events that the institute has a culturally diverse atmosphere which ensures an inclusive nation building.

  • Festivals namely Diwali, Christmas, Onam, Bakrid, and Holi, are celebrated in harmony.

  • Encourage students to participate in Cultural Fests and Kerala Literature Festival.

  • ‘Food Fests’ as a part of ‘World Food Day’ is celebrated to familiarize with different cuisines.

  • Organizes National level E-Quiz competition on International Biodiversity day to give awareness on biodiversity conservation.

  • Cultural programmes are conducted towards showcasing provincial cultural artistic forms through students.

  • Staff and students were involved in the rescue operations during the ‘Plane Crash at Calicut International Airport’.

  • Provided assistance to the people who were affected by massive landslide in Kavalappara, near Nilambur in Malappuram.

  • Science club organized field trips to nearby farms in “Niravu-Vengeri" and Aroor–to understand different aspects of organic farming.

  • Organised awareness Programme on Monsoon Diseases and Energy Conservation through Wall Art in the nearby villages namely Vazhayoor and Ramanattukara.

  • A survey on expatriates who lost their jobs due to COVID-19 and other health related issues was conducted by our students as a part of Rehabilitation Project (First Initiative in Kerala).

  • Contributed around 800 masks to the '1000 Mask Challenge' during COVID-19.

  • Installation of Bio-pedestal Composting unit, distribution of Onam Vegetable Kit and essential study kits to the needy school children.

  • Distribution of hand sanitizers to students and staff.

  • The institute organized ‘English Poetry Writing Competition’ as part of celebrating World Poetry Day.

  • Observed important days like Hindi Day, Arabic day and conducted special programmes on the same day to emphasize its importance to students.

  • Encourages students of media studies to participate in the ‘International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).

  • Distribution of alumni sponsored mobile phones for needy students in Mundakassery and Vazhayur, was organised under ‘Mobile Phone Challenge’ during the lockdown period.

  • Cleanup challenges to clean schools and painting Anganawadi in Vazhayur to create social commitment in students.

  • Students collected funds to distribute essential study kits to the needy school children of Vazhayur and Mundakassery village, which inculcates social responsibility in them.

  • The alumni played a historic role in the process of rebuilding GLP School at Kurichyarmala in Vythiri in Wayanad district and has conducted cleaning programme at Higher Secondary School, Kakkove.

  • Conducted blood donation camps to grow into solicitous towards the needy.

  • International day against Drug abuse & illicit trafficking, and anti-drug day awareness programs were organised to stay away from social evils.

  • Days such as Biodiversity Day, Interns Day to enlighten the students on social work and social action, Reader’s Day, World Paper Bag day and Statistics day were also organised.

  • A programme named “RAIN WALK” was organised to give awareness on Biodiversity.

  • Vanamaholsavam was celebrated in the campus to support tree planting, tending and hope to create more forests in the country.
